Fidelity retirement account consolidation event series begins this week
Purdue University, in conjunction with Fidelity Investments, will launch a Consolidation Event Series that will begin in October, with activities continuing through the end of the year.
Individuals who have a retirement account balance with a previous employer or legacy Purdue retirement plan provider (plans prior to 2011) may be paying more in administrative and investment fees than necessary. Keeping information up to date across multiple platforms can also be a challenge.
Consolidating those older retirement accounts into a Purdue Retirement Program can provide the benefits of a more inclusive view of your savings for retirement, mean receiving fewer retirement account statements from various providers and offer one location to maintain information while providing access to a variety of retirement planning tools and resources.
Throughout the retirement account consolidation series, Fidelity representatives will be available to help evaluate options to see if consolidation could be right for you. Fidelity representatives will also help with guidance through the consolidation process, from obtaining the appropriate paperwork all the way through the transfer process.
Events are open to all Purdue employees and planning partners.

Be prepared: Gather documents, update information
To help expedite the process, plan to gather account numbers and official statements of all accounts you would like to consolidate.
In addition to reviewing for consolidation opportunities, individuals may also want to take this time to confirm their information is accurate with their retirement plan providers and Purdue, including home mailing address, contact information and beneficiary records. As part of this special series, Fidelity workplace financial consultants will begin reaching out to individuals with legacy plans from prior to January 2011 through Purdue’s former retirement plan providers to offer assistance with reviewing and managing the transfer and consolidation process.
